The base of this floor lamp is four solid walnut-toned rods, each round in cross-section, rising from a thick circular disc and twisting around each other as they climb. The four rods cross and re-cross in a continuous double-helix braid, creating a series of diamond-shaped openings along the full height of the base. At the top, the four rods converge to support a large cylindrical cream fabric shade.

The second image shows the lamp from three angles — front, three-quarter, and side. From every position, the braid reads differently: the diamond openings shift in proportion, the shadows inside the structure change, and the walnut grain catches the light at a different angle. This is a lamp that rewards being looked at from across the room and from beside it.
