Bay Furniture Serpentine Open Bookcase in Walnut

The structure of this bookcase is a single continuous band of solid walnut-toned wood, approximately 4–5cm thick, that bends left and right alternately as it rises — five times in total, creating five open shelves. Each bend is a perfect rounded U-turn: the wood curves from horizontal to vertical to horizontal again without any joint, any seam, or any change in thickness. The second image shows this in close-up. The grain runs continuously through every bend, inside and outside the curve.

The shelves alternate in their open side: the first shelf is closed on the left and open on the right, the second is closed on the right and open on the left, and so on up the piece. A central vertical divider runs the full height of the bookcase, splitting each shelf into two zones. The top left corner is closed with a rounded arch. The base is a thick rounded-corner rectangle.
