This is one piece that does the work of several. The upholstered bench and the open shelf unit are built as a single object — connected at the base by a continuous angled platform in deep walnut-toned wood, sharing the same frame and the same floor contact surface. Use it at the entrance as a shoe bench with storage above. Use it in the living room as a seat with a display shelf beside it. Use it in the bedroom at the foot of the bed with books and objects on the shelves. The form is the same in every position; the function changes with the room.

The bench seat is upholstered in cream teddy bouclé — a coarse, looped fabric that is soft to sit on and warm in appearance. The seat is wide and deep, with a generous cushion thickness suited to sitting upright, perching briefly while putting on shoes, or resting with legs extended. The backrest is square and full-height. The right side has a low upholstered armrest. The left side opens directly into the shelf unit with no armrest, so the shelf surface is within easy reach from the seated position. Two solid walnut-toned tapered legs support the bench at the front, angled outward.

The shelf unit has three levels. The top surface is a flat solid panel — wide enough for a ceramic vase, a tray of keys, or a glass of tea. The middle shelf is open and accessible from the front, suited to shoes, folded items, books, or display objects. The lower shelf is open and deeper, suited to larger items. The left face of the shelf unit is a vertical slatted panel of narrow walnut-toned rails, open between them, that reads as a screen from the side. The entire shelf unit is deep walnut-toned wood with a smooth matte finish.
